STUDENT LIFE

Living Costs

The cost of living is comparable with the European average. A student requires about 400 Euro a month for basic expenses like food, rent and transportation, broken down as follows:

Rent ca. 150,-
Food (a meal in the dining hall costs from 2.50 Euro to 6 Euro) ca. 250,-
Transportation (ca. 8 Euro per month - Bucharest universal transport pass) ca. 20,-
University fees (calculated monthly) none for Erasmus students
Leisure, sports, books, bars, cinema, theatre ca. 40,-
Clothing, washing, cosmetics ca. 40,-

The amount can vary according to personal habits and status in life. Expenses for books vary from one course to another depending on whether the required books are available in the library or have to be purchased privately. Also rents, especially in shared private accommodation, can vary considerably. The calculation of expenses should also take long journeys into consideration, whereby the transportation costs are the largest sum.

Health Insurance

All students must belong to a health insurance scheme. Students of the "Carol Davila" University belong to a university health insurance scheme.
ERASMUS students coming to Romania should check if their health insurance company covers medical services in Romania. If not they have to present the proof of a valid medical insurance to the immigration officer when coming to Romania.
