a) With the beginning of the new Lifelong Learning Programme in 2007 our university's objectives are expanding the
activities that allowed us to maintain a high standard of our educational programmes and promoting new activities
for a better international visibility of our university. The University specific objectives are: - to promote mobility in the ERASMUS programme on a wider scale to both students and teaching staff throughout the University; - to use the mobility in the ERASMUS programme as a means to attract new undergraduate and postgraduate students; - to increase the international visibility of the University, especially in the newer EU countries; - to extend the ECTS to all faculties and improve the ECTS information package and unit choice; - to attract more teaching staff from partner universities. The University's strategies are: - to promote mobility on a wider scale to both students and teaching staff through mail bases, regular information sessions and fairs, promotional and informative literature, and regular visits to academic staff in all departments. The quality of information and promotion regarding international study opportunities will be maintained at high standards; - to continue to maintain regular contact with partner institutions and students through monitoring visits and attendance by University staff at European conferences and events. The University intends to provide funding for more visits to partners by members of academic staff, in order to maintain the quality of current partnerships. - the ECTS system available to incoming ERASMUS students will be improved by introducing a more comprehensive and accurate ECTS multi-media presentation. Also, to introduce a more uniform and efficient system for the production of transcripts which allows for academic comparability. - improvement of curricula in medicine, dental medicine and pharmacy faculties by introducing new courses like "Human behavior" and Methodology of medical research". - the University recognizes that part of the success of running a large mobility programme depends upon its internal management. It will therefore continue to allocate responsibilities for international affairs, as follows: A Pro-Vice Chancellor directly responsible for the promotion, management and development of international issues Departmental (academic) Coordinators responsible for ERASMUS students and academic issues in all departments; b) Documents concerning the ERASMUS University Charter and the EPS will be visible on the University's website and will be available in the University ERASMUS brochure. Our University will continue to disagree, as in the past, with any kind of discrimination. These objectives are clearly stated on our website and all materials promoting our University. |
Quality of academic mobility activities |
The following measures concerning outgoing students are already implemented in our University: - there is a well implemented strategy for selecting the outgoing students. An exam is organized every year to ensure the selection of the best-trained students; - the ECTS system and the curricula are visible on our website and in our brochures. The credit system forms the foundation of recognition of the mobility; - our ERASMUS office is actively involved in counseling outgoing students and in providing the needed information. The students are encouraged to get in touch with former ERASMUS students to get more information regarding their mobility. The University has an ERASMUS club providing help to outgoing students. - additional funding is provided by our university. The following measures concerning incoming students are already implemented in our University: - the ECTS system and the curricula are visible on our website and in our brochures. We discuss with every incoming student in order to select the courses and to assure the best compatibility with the curricula in the home university. - all students are in close contact with a member of our ERASMUS Office. We encourage them to ask for every information they need; - a tutorial system is used for each incoming student; - we offer accommodation to every incoming student in our student houses. Also, they benefit from all rights of Romanian students (like free of charge travel in the city); - incoming students can participate to preparatory language courses organized by other university located in our city; - there is a possibility to participate to our English module of the Medical Faculty. The following measures concerning teaching staff are already implemented in our University: - teachers who completed a mobility benefit from a high degree of consideration both from students and university board; - aditional funding is provided by our university. |
