RECTORAT

Having taken into account the legal requirements (MEC Order No 3266/1998) as well as the decisions of the Senate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” dated 16/05/2001 and 03/07/2003 and of the Senate Committee of the 20 th of July 2004 and of the 29 June 2005 for a medical training module at the Faculty of Medicine, in English language, for some foreign citizens and Romanian citizens living abroad, both studying at their own expense starting with 2005-2006 the following rules apply:

 

 

ADMISSION CONDITIONS

 

 

for the student groups of English Language at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila”:

 

1. To hand in a personal application form for the preliminary examination for studying in English (including the documents mentioned below)

The application may be handed in person to the Senate House – Secretarial Department, Foreign Students Office – Str. Dionisie Lupu No. 37, Sector 1, Bucharest 020021, Romania until September 2007 together with the documents that attest his/her qualifications as listed below. The person cannot apply for the preliminary exam without possessing the official documents listed below.

 

Annex A : Documents Necessary for Appling for the Faculty of Medicine :

a) High school graduation diploma in original and a notarized copy translated into Romanian Language, in which to mentioned that during the high-school the candidate studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology (notarization can be done also by the Romanian Embassy from the country of origin)

a1) curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages in English)

b) -Birth certificate – in original and a notarized copy in Romanian Language (notarization can be done also by the Romanian Embassy from the country of origin)

c) -Passport with a legal long stay visa for studies, in Romania, obtained by legal procedure from the Romanian Embassy from the country of origin of the candidate or from the Ministry of Education and Research – International Department;

d) -2 recent photographs

e) -a medical certificate to prove that the applicant does not have any contagious diseases or any other diseases incompatible with the medical profession

f) -a statement given as his/her responsibility by which the student-to-be, shows that the presented documents allows her/him to apply for a faculty in his/her own country

g) -A receipt obtained after depositing the examination fees of 320 USD in the bank account: UMF “Carol Davila”, RO 50 RNCB 5038 0000 2642 0010, Banca Comerciala Romana- Filiala Lipscani, Str Eugen Carada no. 1-3, Bucharest

2. To participate at the Admission Colloquium which shall consist of 2 tests:

  1. an examination that attests his/her knowledge of English Language (reading, writing, speaking)
  2. an interview based on the Curriculum Vitae with a Committee of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila”.

 

3. The English test shall be held at the Foreign Language Department within the Faculty of Medicine on the September 2007 after depositing the legal fees of 320 USD at BCR. The English test is eliminatory.

4. The interview that selects the candidates shall consist of a discussion in English language based on their Curriculum Vitae before a Committee named by the Executive Board of the Senate on the September 2007. The interview and the Curriculum vitae have to demonstrate a good instruction in Chemistry, Physics and Biology (Human Anatomy and Physiology) at the level of high-school.

5. After having been admitted at the preliminary exam the documents of the successful students shall be verified by M.Ed.C. (Department for European Integration and International Relations) in order to issue the final matriculation disposition.

6. The tuition fee for those who have passed the preliminary exam and who shall enroll in the year 2007-2008 at the Faculty of Medicine is of 360 USD/ month (according to the legal requirements; the fees include tuition and medical assistance in Romania). The taxes must be paid every 3 months in advance .

7. At the end of the second year of studies, the students must pass a Romanian language examination, which is eliminatory, so, only after passing the examination (reading, writing, speaking) they may continue their studies and start the 3 rd university year . The studies shall continue in English but the communication with the patients in the clinical rotations shall be done in Romanian language.

8. The number of places for students within the English language groups of the Faculty of Medicine for the University year 2007-2008 is of 28 (twenty eight). The curriculum is similar to the curriculum approved for the Faculty of Medicine.

The places that are for the students studying in English language shall not lessen the number of places for the Romanian students that shall be admitted by an admission examination.

9. If the candidate fills in the form with incorrect or false data, or if he/she presents inadequate documents (which the Ministry of Education and Research of Romania finds to be false or inadequate), the registration shall be cancelled and the applicant shall have to suffer the legal consequences.

10. If the final registration cannot be done or is cancelled due to one of the reasons mentioned under paragraphs 1 , 2 , 6 and 9 , the University will not return the exam fees, the tuition fees, or the accommodation costs for the university hostels if the candidate stayed there or if he/she attended lectures and practical courses up to the moment of rejection.

II. The admission conditions for studying medicine in English language will be available at the Senate House (Rectorat) and at the Faculty of Medicine, and also on the website: www.uni-davila.ro .

III. The Faculty of Medicine will provide the logistics for a good education in English language, the schedule and the books/materials in English language, at least for the minimum bibliography required.

IV. If, after the period of admission is expired, there will be more applicants, the University Senate Committee will take into consideration the possibility of organizing another admission period.

V. Any supplementary information will be announced in due time.
